“Detatch from all values that support the belief that success in life means achieving certain goals. Instead, view a successful life as a process of achieving self-control and the capacity to work through challenges life brings you.”

I am my favourite work in progress

Hi there, I’m Madi!

I’m a lawyer and certified yoga teacher. I found yoga at a young age, but it wasn’t until law school when I began embodying the practice as my lifestyle.

One of my most memorable experiences was teaching complementary yoga classes to the Faculty of Law at my university. I wanted to offer yoga to other students as an outlet, and to encourage healthy practices like meditation and mindful movement among my peers. I do love being a lawyer now, but I know my job is not the only thing that defines me. Actually, it is but one facet.

And so when I dreamed this online community into life, it seemed fitting to merge two of my facets together to form the name: The Inverted Attorney.

Inversion postures allow you to flip your perspective and view your environment in a different way.

For me, this different perspective became clear when I understood that we are more than our jobs, status, achievements, and material items we sometimes think define us. Yes, these palpable and tangible things make up a fraction of us, but amazingly we are so much more. And we hold the power to colour our lives however we want.

Genuinely embodying the practice of yoga, both on and off my mat, allows me to exist as a multifaceted person. Living in unison with the principles of yoga assists me everyday to give conscious time and energy to all of my layers. And importantly, to slow down and notice the universe within me and outside of me. We are all multifaceted and we are all connected.

Yoga serves as my creative outlet, a celebration of my physical body, my reminder to stay present and live a life of non-violence (towards myself and others). Yoga is my means to let go of anything that isn’t serving me and to bring in whatever it is I need. Yoga is balance to my professional life.

My goal is to share this yoga—all of its different facets both on and off the mat—with anyone and everyone who wishes to make the time for it.

Qualifications and Training

  • 200 hour yoga teacher training program (Pavones Yoga Center for Mindfulness, Costa Rica)

  • 300 hour advanced yoga teacher training program (Sacred Paths Yoga, Costa Rica)

  • Trainings in Ayurveda, Yoga Nidra, Pranayama techniques, and guided meditation

  • Class styles: Hatha, Vinyasa (all levels and inclusive), Yin, and Restorative

Why did I choose Costa Rica? Because for me, it was essential that my trainings were environmentally-focused and immersive experiences.

Costa Rica is where I felt so connected to the earth around me. I bring this earth and environmental connection into my classes through sounds, scents, and verbal cues.

I focus on the smallest of details to ensure the best experience for you—one that allows you to journey deep within yourself, using breath and movement.

Your only job is to arrive.
